When purchasing a new monitor, it’s a good idea to take into account your current specs so you can choose a monitor that will make the most out of your build without spending too much. You also want to consider the types of games you play as this will also affect what specs you should look for in a monitor.

In this guide, we’ll take a look at our top picks for monitors to pair with an RTX 3070 or 3080. For most people, the LG 27GL850-B is a fantastic choice. It has a 1440p 144hz display and uses and IPS panel with great looking colors. It also has a low response time at just 1ms (lower than most IPS panels), and whilst it isn’t cheap, it’s not crazy expensive either.

Best Monitors for RTX 3070 or 3080

Below you can find our top picks for the best monitors for an RTX 3070 or 3080 graphics card. We’ve chosen 4 quite different monitors and we will walk you through the good, the bad, and help you decide the best monitor for your situation.

1. LG 27GL850-B – Best Overall

For most people, a 1440p 144hz monitor like the LG 27GL850-B is the best option for an RTX 3070 or 3080. You get the best of both worlds with a high resolution and a high refresh rate which either of these cards will be able to make the most of as long as the rest of your PC is fairly high end too.

The main reason we chose the LG 27GL850-B as out top pick is that it has an IPS monitor with a low response time. IPS monitors have great colors and image quality, but usually a lower response time so you tend to get ghosting (motion blur). The panel in the LG 27GL850-B has a higher response time than mose IPS panels so ghosting will be minimal. It’s reasonably priced too so overall a great deal.

If you’re looking for a monitor that won’t break the bank, check out the GIGABYTE G27QC. This monitor has similar specs our top pick with a 27″ 1440p display at 165hz.

The main difference between the monitors is the panel. The GIGABYTE G27QC uses a VA panel which isn’t quite as good when it comes to colors, but the contrast ratio is much better so blacks look really black. The GIGABYTE will produce more ghosting than the LG, so the LG is deffinetely worth the extra cost if you’re going to be playing fast-paced games.

GIGABYTE G27QC 27' 165Hz 1440P Curved Gaming Monitor, 2560 x 1440 VA 1500R Display, 1ms (MPRT) Response Time, 92% DCI-P3, HDR Ready, FreeSync Premium, 1x Display Port 1.4

If you mostly play slower-paced games like RPGs, you might want to look for a 4K monitor like the LG 27UK850-W.

This monitor has a 27″ 4K display so will look really sharp. It also has an IPS panel so the image quality and colors will look great. The downside to this monitor is that is has a 5ms response time and 60hz panel. This means it won’t look very smooth when moving around so it isn’t ideal for fast-paced games.

If you’re looking to go all out on a new monitor, the Acer Predator XB273K offers a 4K resolution at 144hz.

If you’re able to achieve 100fps+ at 4K, this monitor will look insanely sharp and smooth with it’s IPS panel. The problem is, whilst the RTX 3070 and 3080 GPUs are extrememly powerful, even they will have trouble reaching high frames in most games at 4K.

Before purchasing this monitor, I’d suggest heading over to youtube and seeing if you can find benchmarks for the games you play running on your hardware. If you’re able to achieve around 100 fps most of the time then I’d say this monitor would be worth it if you can afford the cost.
